41st Annual Eastern Section AAPG Meeting
The Ohio Geological Society presents the 41st Annual Meeting of the Eastern Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, as it returns to Cleveland in 2012, where in 1972 the Section met for the first time.
The Eastern Section covers four major basins, some of the oldest and most drilled in the United States, yet still new discoveries and activity abound.
Join us in the home of Rock & Roll for and event that will continue a tradition of open and informative technical sessions and networking opportunities. Meet the Geoscientists who are working toward a better understanding of the Appalachian, Michigan, Illinois, and Black Warrior Basins at the meeting “Classic Rocks, 153 Years of Performance”.
The conference kicks off with the Opening Session Sunday afternoon featuring comments by the John T. Galey Awardee and the Keynote Address by Thomas M. O’Brien, CEO/Managing Director/President of TravelCenters of America who will address the delegation of principally upstream scientists with a downstream perspective on developing natural gas markets.
The Renaissance Cleveland Hotel is a classic; a grand and fully appointed hotel on the famous Public Square in Cleveland. It is connected to Tower City shopping, restaurant and new Horseshoe Casino and has direct train service (RTA Red Line every 15 minutes, $2.50 each way) to and from the Cleveland International Airport (CLE) which is served by 8 major airlines: Southwest, Air Canada, Delta, United, US Airways and others. Contact General Co-Chairs Pete MacKenzie or Steve Zody to volunteer to help with the meeting.
We invite you to explore the program, 113 original papers will be presented in ten sessions. A diverse offering of 7 short courses and 3 field trips sets the stage for this preeminent scientific conference and gathering for geoscientists working in the basins of eastern North America.
