The premiere Geoscience conference in the Eastern United States will commence activities September 22nd. Eastern Section meetings are unlike other AAPG Section Meetings in many ways, and this meeting is shaping up to deliver on the promise to provide a memorable and valuable venue for learning, networking, and experiences.
This 41st gathering of preeminent Geoscientists who work in the sprawling region known as the Eastern Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists spans 20 states, an adopted province, several basins, and is home to the Federal Government, a plethora of high caliber Universities and Colleges that creates this unique and diverse assemblage of Geoscientists. A legacy of over 150 years of petroleum geology, to which appendices to this very day, continue to be added. This diversity and longevity makes for some very strong traditions. Camaraderie, networking, and catching up with old friends facilitates the consumption of vast quantities of coffee and beer (the hotel has been advised, warned and is prepared) are some of the valuable social opportunities that are a significant and major part of the meeting. The headline event, the President’s Reception at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Monday Night will, for many of us, make the trip to Cleveland particularly memorable.
Three Field Trips are covering the basics, Sandstone, Shale and Wine are on the board. SEVEN short courses are available for your continuing education interests.
The crux of the meeting, however, are the Technical Program. 115 abstracts have been accepted by the Committee with topics ranging from carbonates and shales to drilling techniques and CO2 sequestration..
We look forward to seeing you there!
